Whilst we do have some employees, much of the work completed is done by volunteers.
Cattery - 18 Charlesworth Street, Woolston
Volunteers assist with the cleaning of the pens/runs. This is normally completed between 9am and 11am each morning. The volunteers interact with the cats while they are cleaning and can spend some one on one time with them. People with suitable skills may also assist the Cattery Supervisor with rehoming the cats during our opening hours.
We currently have positions available weekday mornings cleaning. This can change as volunteers get jobs etc so please call us on (03) 3840006 to see if there is a position for the day you can volunteer.
If you love gardening, we require a couple of people to help keeps the gardens maintained at the cattery. Please phone us on (03) 3840006 if you can assist.

We have an important position that we need to fill at the cattery asap as one of our staff is leaving Christchurch. It can be PAID or VOLUNTARY.
The person currently in the job works from 8am to 2.30pm on Thursday and from 11am to 3pm Saturday and 11am to 2.30pm Sunday.
The day during the week can be changed to another weekday but we need them to be back-up to the supervisor to cover s ickness and annual leave for the other days of the week. The weekday job is feeding and observing the cats in care and cleaning and supervising the volunteers as they clean. From 11am the cattery opens to the public to rehome the cats, kittens and teenagers at the cattery. The person may also be required to transport cats to and from the vet.
The weekend work is rehoming. Experience with cats is a must and it will be beneficial if there is some homing experience. Training and support will be provided. Please e-mail cplcats@xtra.co.nz with details of your experience if you are interested or if you require any additional information.

Shop - 475 Worcester Street, Linwood
Volunteers normally complete a three hour shift serving customers in our opportunity shop. The shop is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and the shifts are either 10am to 1pm or 1pm to 4pm. The work involves dealing with the public, handling money, manual recording of sales and keeping the various areas tidy. If interested, please phone the office on (03) 3810 289.
Office - 475 Worcester Street, Linwood
The office is open from 10am to 4pm weekdays and either a three hour shift or a six hour shift is completed. The calls are from people requiring advice and assistance so a good knowledge of cats and being able to deal with the public professionally is required. The enquiries will either be by telephone or face to face.
We are looking for a Fundraising Co-ordinator to organise events such as Pet-Expo and come up with new ideas. Please e-mail leys@xtra.co.nz if you are interested.
Committee
The Cats' Protection League is run by a committee consisting of President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer and committee members. The committee meet monthly on Saturday afternoons except for December when no meeting is held. We have several vacancies so if interested, please email cplcats@xtra.co.nz.
Fosterers
Most incoming cats and kittens are fosterered before they go to our catteries for rehoming. Fosterers care for the cats and kittens in a secure area of their home and rehabilitate and socialise them. Cages, beds, bedding, food etc is supplied. If you are interested in fosterering, please phone the office on (03) 3810 289.
