An anniversary update from gorgeous Gene, adopted at eleven years young five years ago 
Just wanted to give you the annual update on our golden oldie, Gene. Eleven years old when he came to live with us, five years later he is still going strong at 16. We moved a couple of years ago and he has settled well into the Otago lifestyle. His arthritis is well and truly under control (he tells us his lately discovered catnip habit is purely medicinal) and he is spending his retirement eating and sleeping (he’s not fat he’s fluffy…). If there is a sunbeam it has his name on it. He has become very cuddly and affectionate in his old age and often sends his purr into overdrive. He snores so loudly we have to turn up the volume on the TV, but that’s just one of the quirks that makes him who he is. Our little gingernut has positioned himself firmly at the head of our family and rules the roost with a paw of steel.
